Apply an Overpayment to a Sales Invoice

When can we apply an Overpayment?

An overpayment can be applied to a sales invoice only when a customer has an overpayment. We can apply that credit to a new or existing invoice but the condition is that the currency and the contact should be the same. 

Apply the overpayment to a new invoice 

  1. Create a new invoice(Link Create New Invoice), then click Approve. 
  1. Click Allocate when Clickenty prompts a popup box to allocate the outstanding credit. 
  1. Just enter the amount, either less than or equal to the full amount of the credit of the overpayment you want to apply to that invoice. 
  1. Click Allocate Credit button to apply the Overpayment. 

Apply the Overpayment to an Existing Invoice 

  1. In the Account menu, select Sales (Accounts >> Sales)
  1. Select the Awaiting Payment tab from the Filter Tabs.
  1. Find and open the invoice on which you want to apply the overpayment. Using the Search option you can easily search the Invoice.
  1. Click Credit this Invoice Link. 
  1. Just enter the amount, either less than or equal to the full amount of the credit of the overpayment you want to apply to that invoice.
  1. Click Allocate Credit button to apply the Overpayment.
